A purported notification is circulating in WhatsApp groups in Pakistan claiming that the federal government has allowed opium cultivation in Chagai district of Balochistan.

An alleged notification, dated December 2 and purportedly issued by the Ministry of Narcotics Control, is circulating online. He claims that the federal government has granted permission to cultivate opium in Chagai district of Balochistan.
The document is named after Syed Sadaat Ali Bokhari, identified as a section officer of Islamabad’s anti-narcotics chemical branch.

The notification is false and the federal government has not granted such permission.
Qadir Yar Tiwana, director general of media at the Ministry of Interior, said Geographic data verification that the viral notification is “completely false.”
Tiwana also shared a press release from the Ministry of Narcotics Control, calling the viral notification a “fabrication and result of forgery.”
“The Ministry of Narcotics Control clarifies that no such approval has been issued nor is there any policy allowing cultivation of opium in Balochistan or any other region,” the statement read.

On the other hand, Syed Sadaat Ali Bokhari, whose name appears in the viral document, also confirmed that it is fake.
Bokhari pointed out several glaring errors:
- His name was misspelled as “Bakhari” instead of “Bokhari”.
- The signature on the document does not match your actual signature.
- There was no such thing as an “anti-narcotics chemical branch” in the ministry.
To prove it further, Bokhari shared an old official notification with his correct signature with Geographic data verification.
Bokhari added that he had been transferred from the Ministry of Narcotics Control to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in September. This further contradicts the viral notification, which dates back to December.
Geographic data verification He also identified other anomalies in the document, such as the letterhead incorrectly saying “Minister of Narcotics Control” instead of “Ministry of Narcotics Control.” Furthermore, the notification could not be found on the official website of the drug control ministry.
