Amid the continuous US-China tensions about technological domain, Google has recognized that some countries are concerned about the technological domain of the United States, so it has announced some updates to its sovereign services in the cloud to guarantee optimal privacy.
In a blog post, the president of the Google Cloud client experience, Hayete Gallot, boasted that the company now has more than 42 cloud regions, 127 zones, 202 Network Edge locations and 33 underwater cable investments that support its global cloud services.
Once niche and limited to highly regulated sectors such as defense and intelligence, sovereignty is now a conventional concern for many sectors and most governments, and Google has responded with a handful of updates.
Google updates its sovereign cloud portfolio for customers
The announcement key is the cloud service obtained from the air of Google Cloud, which functions as an independent cloud without external network connectivity requirements. Finally, Google Cloud Data Boundary provides users with greater control over where their data is stored and processing, with improved protection through the management of external keys and confidential computing. For example, users of the work space can select restricting the processing to the USA or the EU, while choosing local data storage countries.
A tool backed by bossy called User User Shield is being added to guarantee the continuous verification of sovereignty positions.
Gallot expressed the commitment to “empower organizations worldwide to navigate the complex panorama of digital sovereignty with confidence”, while pointing out how advanced security is measured as a zero confidence position, cryptography after quanto and defenses propelled by AI are part of the broader strategy.
