James Gunn, CEO of DC Studios, writer, director and producer, has revealed the reason why “Legacy” left superman qualification.
For the unversed, the Superman the film was first called Superman: Legacybut the subtitle was later removed without explanation.
Gunn explained that the one-word title fits the film better and fans will understand why once they see it.
During a visit to the film’s set, Gunn shared how he and his team did “autopsies” to anticipate ways Superman could fail.
They discussed things like the script, casting, and team communication to improve the film before it was too late.
Now, speaking to ComicBook, the 58-year-old director said: “We get into a room with me and all the department heads and say, ‘Let’s just say this movie is colossal shit.'”
He added: “We’ll find out in two years, when this movie comes out, that it’s going terribly wrong. What are we doing right now that we’re not talking about, that we’re doing this, doing this movie wrong?”
“Everyone is allowed, from transportation to whatever, everyone can speak their mind. And I found that extremely helpful,” Gunn said.
“One of the things was that maybe the title… had a feeling of looking back, and it’s not about looking back; it’s about looking forward. When you see the movie, you’ll understand where ‘Legacy’ is. ‘ comes because, again, it’s about Clark and his relationship to the script… and whose legacy is it, really, and it’s about that, but I think as a title… it feels too backward-looking? ”said the creator of. Pacifier he concluded.
It is pertinent to mention that Superman will be released on July 11, 2025.
