The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa cabinet, at its 34th meeting held on Friday under the presidency of Prime Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur, approved a series of development initiatives and administrative reforms aimed at strengthening infrastructure, medical care, public services and pension management throughout the provincial.

One of the main decisions included the approval of the acquisition of 50 additional diesel-hill buses for the Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system at a cost of RS3.2 billion.

This movement is produced in response to the growing public demand and the recent expansion of BRT routes from six to eight, including the new DR-11, DR-13 and DR-14 routes. With this addition, the BRT fleet will grow beyond the current 244 buses, improving the frequency and service coverage.

The cabinet also approved the fusion of four Campus of the ADP scheme of the “Zamungkor” model institute for state children on Swat, Di Khan, Abbottabad and Peshawar Girls Campus in the main autonomous body based in Peshawar. The fusion aims to optimize operations and improve attention for more than 1,000 children currently registered in the facilities.

The cabinet approved several legal amendments, including the reviews of the Law of Public Services Law of KP, 2014. The updates aim to improve electronic government, coordination and public responsibility, while introducing provisions for marginalized communities. They were also made amendments to the rules of public association of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa 2021, reducing the bidder’s response time from 60 to 30 days, to accelerate the delivery of the project.

The improvements in the health sector were also prioritized, and the cabinet approved greater financing for several ongoing projects. These include an increase in the cost of the Category C hospital of Balakot of RS575 million to RS924.596 million, conversion of 50 rural health centers into 24/7 facilities (RS1.7 billion) and an update of 200 basic health units for maternal care of 24/7 (RS2.96 billion). In addition, a subsidy of RS346 million for modern teams at the Peshawar Cardiology Institute was sanctioned.

The Cabinet Also Approved A Non-ADP Scheme Worth RS124 Million to summar RS10 Million for Cancer Patient, Appaintment of Rubab Mehdi as KP’s Ombudsperson, and Inclusion of Makniyal in Urban Area Development Authority Haripur.

Other assignments included RS1.5 billion for the repair of the transformer, RS1,041 billion to resolve the Fish and RS4 billion fees for the maintenance of the irrigation sector. The cabinet lifted a prohibition of vehicle acquisitions to allow two official vehicles for district judges and sessions in Mohmand and Khyber and the approved subcontracting of the collection of tobacco CESS (excluding factories).

The Cabinet also sanctioned the hiring of legal advisors for an anti -narcotic case in the Supreme Court and reviewed the use of the land and the wood trade mechanisms in the Alto Kohistan and Chitral.
