PTI founding member announces movement for Imran Khan’s release

Ali Khan, founding leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former ally of Imran Khan, has announced a peaceful movement for the release of the former prime minister.

Addressing a press conference along with other party leaders at the Swat Press Club, Khan emphasized that Imran Khan is currently imprisoned for an unjust cause and promised to personally lead the movement for his release.

Khan stated: “Imran Khan is imprisoned for crimes he did not commit and I am announcing a peaceful movement for his release, which I will personally lead.”

He revealed plans to set up hunger strike camps in Adiala, Swat and Peshawar jail in the near future, and called for the immediate release of all PTI workers and leaders detained during the November 26 protests in Islamabad.

Furthermore, Khan demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter, urging the release of innocent people who have been unjustly imprisoned.

He also expressed his disappointment at the state of corruption in the country, lamenting that instead of seeing a reduction in corruption, it has only increased.

“We have failed to create a corruption-free society,” Khan added. “No government, including the PTI-led one, has managed to pass anti-corruption legislation in the assembly. Imran Khan is in prison not for corruption, but because he has been wrongfully convicted. “His release is our ultimate goal.”

Earlier, Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, hinted that the former prime minister would remain in jail for another three to four months.

While speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, he emphasized that if a verdict is handed down in the £190 million landmark case, they will appeal to the High Court, where he believes redress can be expected.

“I am fully convinced that Imran Khan will be convicted in the reference £190 million case. However, when verdicts are handed down by lower courts, relief is usually granted by the High Court. This case is absurd, accusing him of start a charity project,” said Aleema Khan.
