Islamabad:
The army has no interest in interacting with political parties and should not be dragged into politics, said the main military spokesman in an interview on Friday, emphasizing that the institution constantly maintained that the policy was the domain of the elected representatives.
In an interview with the BBC Urdu, the Director General of Public Relations Interservices (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, emphasized that the Pakistan army focused on their professional responsibilities.
“The Army has always been clear that politics is the work of politicians. Whatever any party in power, it represents the State at that time,” he said. “[Army’s] Loyalty meets the people of Pakistan, the country’s territorial integrity, sovereignty and protection, “he added.
General Chaudhry said that Rumors and assumptions without foundation were often extended against the military by political objectives. “When the Marka-E-Haq arrived, has the army fulfilled its responsibilities? Has the nation ever felt the absence of the army?” asked.
He pointed out that the military had acted according to the directives of the elected governments, both at the federal and provincial level, on several occasions. He rejected the narration that the people of Baluchistan distance themselves from the military, qualifying it as an Indian propaganda.
“We are the popular army. Baluchistan is part of Pakistan, and there is no separation between the two, it is the crown of our nation,” he said. Chaudhry added that federal and provincial governments were working in several sectors to improve the well -being and prosperity of the people of Baluchistan.
