President Ayaz Sadiq calls for talks between govt and PTI

The president of the National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, has called for tomorrow the first meeting of the negotiating committees of the Government and the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf).

President Ayaz Sadiq stated that he invited the members of both committees to meet tomorrow (Monday) at 11:30 am and that he will meet them in his chamber of Parliament.

Ayaz Sadiq welcomed and expressed gratitude for the formation by the Prime Minister of a committee to start negotiations with the opposition. He said the Prime Minister’s decision to resolve the issues through negotiations is commendable.

The Spokesperson stressed that he has extended an invitation to dialogue in good faith to both the Government and the opposition, and assured that the doors of his office will always be open to the deputies. He also mentioned that progress can only be made through communication and dialogue.

It is important to note that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the suggestion of President Ayaz Sadiq, formed a negotiation committee comprising members of the ruling coalition.

The government committee includes Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Naveed Qamar, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Aleem Khan and Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

The PTI committee comprises Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, Salman Akram Raja, Ali Amin Gandapur and Sahibzada Hamid Raza.

Last night, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar urged the Speaker of the National Assembly to play a role in facilitating negotiations and stressed the importance of discussions with the PTI.

Meanwhile, PTI president Barrister Gohar welcomed the formation of the government’s negotiating committee and expressed hope that all issues would be resolved in the shortest possible time.

In a statement, he said, “We welcome the announcement of the committee by the government and it is a positive step. Negotiations between the government and the PTI must be comprehensive and result-oriented.”

He further added: “I am hopeful that a productive solution to all the problems will be found in the shortest possible time. Both committees are made up of serious people and the negotiations will definitely progress. We are optimistic that the negotiation process is about to begin “
