65% vacancies

LAHORE:

About 65 percent of permanent positions of government school teachers in Punjab are vacancies.

Publications include thousands in grade 17 to 20, including a large number of directors and directors, as well as older teachers.

An official said that the percentage of permanent vacancies had increased to 65 mainly due to the lack of timely promotion of teachers in service.

According to sources in the sector, government schools throughout the province face shortage of around 100,000 teachers, causing problems for students and teachers.

In the middle of the persistent lack of infrastructure and adequate facilities, the Punjab Scholl education department is executing its operations by ad hoc appointed officials to fill the permanent vacant positions.

The situation is worse in the schools in the village and in southern Punjab, where students also do not have access to private registration centers to cover their curriculum.

The lists of permanent vacancies include those of computer sciences and teachings, as well as directors who have crucial administrative responsibilities in their schools.

The representatives of the teachers unions have also raised the problem during their protests in recent months, demanding the appointment of teachers permanently. They said that the lack of availability of permanent officials had affected academic activities. The teachers had demanded that the provincial government fill the permanent vacancies before the conclusion of the current summer vaccines.

A senior official of the School Education Department said that the reason for vacuum positions was that the government did not promote teachers. The official said that the percentage of permanent vacancies in government schools was more than 65 percent.

The official said that primary, medium, high and superior secondary schools in all districts had been affected by the problem. However, then the subject had serious implications for high and higher secondary schools, where students fully trusted school teachers to prepare for their exams.

Up to 3,661 permanent directors in the 17th grade are also vacancies, while the total number of assigned posts is 5,067. In 18th grade, 500 of the total of 1,673 director positions are vacancies. Similarly, 37 percent of the positions of director and director in grade 19 are vacancies. In addition, 303 publications in grade 20 are also vacancies in schools. The total number of permanent positions in the qualification throughout the province is 404.

In the category of Major School teachers in grade 19, approximately 66 percent of the positions are vacancies together with 55 in the 18th grade, added the official.

The general secretary of Punjab teachers, Rana Liaqat Ali, said there were disappointments among teachers because they were not being promoted and appointed permanently, which was their right.

He said that timely promotions were important to help increase the standard of education.

He said the government should immediately fill the permanent vacancies.

He said that a large number of teachers had retired while waiting for promotions ads that several more were scheduled to retire in the coming months in all districts.
