The cloud without trust meets on Gandapur in kp

Islamabad:

A political storm can be elaborating in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as Governor Faisal Karim Kundi confirmed on Saturday that both the ruling alliance and the opposition are seriously weighing a movement without confidence against Prime Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, amid a changing tide in the assembly numbers after the rule of the Supreme Court in the reserved seats.

In an exclusive conversation, the governor of KP said that the opposition reserves the democratic right to bring a motion of non -confidence against the provincial government every time it has a numerical advantage in the assembly, saying why an opposition would expect if it has the numbers.

Governor Kundi clarified that there has been no formal opposition attempt to expel the KP government, but the opposition was actively working to consolidate support.

“We (the ruling alliance and the provincial opposition) are working seriously on it. The numbers have changed in the assembly. The opposition is not in a hurry, but will not wait when the numbers are completed,” he said.

Governor Kundi said the opposition parties currently have around 54 seats in the KP Assembly and see an opening to obtain the support of almost 35 independent members.

“No opposition party would expect even a second if it can exceed the ruling party in any assembly in number,” he said.

With the support of the independent MPA, Governor Kundi, while answering a question, said that the task of eliminating the KP government led by PTI was attainable, since the dropout clause would not apply to them.

In 2024, the Supreme Court had argued that legislators crossing the floor will have their counted votes, even if they are subsequently disqualified. This would require partial elections in any seat that unemployed.

In contrast, if the opposition depends on independent members for their support, partial elections would not arise, since their participation does not violate the constitutional provisions.

According to article 136 of the Constitution, the main minister can be eliminated through a vote of lack of trust supported by the majority of the total membership of the Provincial Assembly.

Alternatively, according to article 130 (7), the governor can ask the principal minister to seek a vote of trust if he believes that the camera leader no longer has majority support.

In both cases, the support of at least 73 MPA is required in the assembly of 145 members, indicating that the opposition is currently cut between 19 and 20 votes. Governor Kundi dismissed the notion that the ruling alliance in the center hastened any political maneuver.

“The work is in progress. When the numbers are there, we will not delay,” he said.

In reference to repeated public teasing and public warnings of CM Gandapur, Kundi said: “The prime minister continues to launch challenges. But we will act when it is important.”

Drawing a parallel to the political events of April 2022, Kundi recalled that a motion of non -confidence against then Prime Minister Imran Khan was successfully executed at that time.

“At that time too, the PTI government said no one could evict them. Everyone saw what happened next,” he said.

When asked if Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had ordered him to initiate the measure against the KP government during his recent meeting, the governor clarified that, although the matter was discussed, no specific directions were issued.

“Yes, we discussed the situation after the decision of the reserved seats, but there was no specific order or task of the Prime Minister,” he said.

In a lighter note, Kundi, while referring to the repeated challenges of CM kp that would leave the policy if someone expels it, said: “We do not want Gandapur to stay unemployed or renounce politics.”

When commenting on the coordination within the opposition, Kundi recognized the political relevance of Chief Jui-F Maulana Fazlur Rehman and said that the interactions take place to discuss different things and the political situation that changes rapidly.

Kundi said that Maulana is a senior figure with extensive political experience, saying that meetings and consultations with political leaders such as him are held routinely.

Recent changes in allocations of reserved seats have altered the political equation in KP, which caused discussions at the highest level within the ruling coalition. Although there has not yet a formal step, political observers believe that the possibility of a motion of non -confidence has become significantly possible if independents change side.

They say that it is likely that the next few days are decisive to determine if the PTI retains its control over the province or meets in April 2022.
