The Punjab government has launched a great repression of bird activity near Lahore airport to improve aviation safety, declaring several neighborhoods “without bird areas” under a new initiative.
The Directive, issued by Prime Minister Maryam Nawaz, implies coordination between the city district administration, the Punjab Wildlife Department and the Environmental Protection Agency.
The localities such as Eastern Bypass, Manawan, Dahori Wala, Pkli, Chungi Amar Sidhu, Ichra and Chah Look are among those placed under strict monitoring. The authorities said these areas have been surrounded by air ring to create a protective airspace for commercial flights.
Bird strikes, particularly during takeoff and landing, represent a persistent security danger. The new policy aims to mitigate this by reducing the presence of birds around low altitude flight routes.

Strict regulations are being imposed on nearby slaughterhouses, poultry farms, bakeries and leather processing units. These companies must now comply with environmental controls, including the prohibition of open waste elimination and animal skins.
In addition, bird feeding in public areas, in the roofs and in the sanctuaries has been prohibited. Residents are also restricted to maintain or fly large amounts of pigeons.
The garbage dump near the airport has been prohibited, and the covered waste containers are now mandatory in specific areas. The officials warned that any activity that attracts birds in these areas will be treated as a violation of public security.
