Creatives are surprisingly optimistic about the impact of artificial intelligence on their industries, and many are excited about the technology’s transformative benefits, according to new research.
Data from nearly 5,000 creatives evaluated by Monotype sought to address the issue of creatives feeling threatened by AI, a concern initially shared by many workers.
Nine in 10 workers (91%) said AI tools are beneficial for their creative tasks, suggesting that some degree of automation can help speed up workflows and free up more time to spend on genuinely creative work. instead of administrative tasks.
Creatives are fans of AI and automation
More than a third (34%) of respondents said they were optimistic about artificial intelligence, compared to one in five (21%) who said they were pessimistic. Another 23% said they were neutral, 18% were undecided and 4% selected “other.”
“This new research from Monotype challenges the prevailing view that most creatives are somehow inherently ‘anti-AI,'” said Monotype CEO Ninan Chacko.
Respondents revealed that visualizing typography in real-world scenarios (45%), suggesting font combinations (45%), speeding up more routine elements of workflows (43%), and improving the discovery of new fonts (43%) were all benefits. of artificial intelligence.
Mary Catherine Pflug, senior director of partner experience and inventory lifecycle, added: “Our research shows that creatives view font choice as one of the most important elements of their creative process, and the discovery tools enabled by Monotype AI, such as font search and matching, is helping designers improve their results. decisions, faster.”
Additionally, research highlights the growing prevalence of subscription-based software: 89% currently pay for at least one platform and the average worker pays for four. Software like Adobe Creative Cloud, Canva, Shutterstock, Picsart, Kittl, Monotype Fonts emerged as popular options.
