The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has simplified the process to obtain succession certificates, which makes it significantly easier for citizens to claim inheritance rights, accrediting the Associated Press of Pakistan.
A new notification issued on Tuesday establishes that legal heirs can now submit requests for succession certificates in any of the 186 Succession Certificate (SFU) units established throughout Pakistan.
These units are found in the Nadra centers in Islamabad, Punjab, Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan and Gilgit-Baltistan, regardless of where the inherited property is located.

In an attempt to improve convenience, the biometric verification process has also improved. Legal heirs can now complete the biometric process, either in their nearest or remote -designed Nadra center through the Pak ID mobile application.
Previously, applicants had to request succession certificates in the province where inherited property was placed, which created challenges for heirs living in other provinces. While Nadra had previously introduced a biometric verification based on mobile devices, applications still had to appear in the province where the property was.
With the new initiative, Nadra has eliminated this restriction, allowing citizens to begin and complete the process from anywhere in Pakistan. A NADRA spokesman confirmed that official notifications have been sent to all Nadra centers with SFU to ensure that citizens can access the service in their closest location.
