Karachi:
The Sindh Assembly approved three legislation on Friday, including a bill that increases the salaries and privileges of its members, the Sindh bill of intermediate and secondary education (amendment) 2025, and the draft Law of Sindh (amendment) Anti-terrorism 2025.
The bills were transferred by the Minister of Law and Parliamentary Affairs Ziaul Hassan Lanjar during a session chaired by President Syed Awais Qadir Shah. The Chamber unanimously approved the Bill of Salary and Assignments, which was previously eliminated by the provincial cabinet on Thursday.
The new law matches the privileges for the MPA, both of the government and the opposition, which covers hospitality, rental of the house, public services, daily and transport assignments, accommodation, travel and mileage, medical and medical facilities, as well as the maintenance of the office.
The opposition leader will now receive the same salary and advantages as a provincial minister. The presidents of the parliamentary committee will have the right to use an official vehicle, with fuel and maintenance, but must return it within three days after the cancellation of the position.
The Sindh bill of intermediate and secondary education (amendment) 2025, approved by a majority vote, allows the appointment of BPS-20 and 21 officers as presidents of educational boards. Lanjar said that the movement was aimed at inducing the competent officers for a better performance of the Board.
However, knowing Qaimkhani of MQM-Pakistan asked to send the bill to the relevant committee for greater deliberation to safeguard the autonomy of the Board, a suggestion that was rejected by the Chamber.
The Assembly also adopted the Sindh Anti -Terrorist Law (amendment) 2025. The details of the changes were not immediately discussed on the floor.
Shah speaker announced that a special session will take place on August 11 at the old assembly building for Mark Minority Day, with representatives of minority communities invited to participate. A motion of privilege of Ammar Siddiqui of MQM-Pakistan was rejected on gas supply issues for technical reasons.
During the time of the question for the Department of Auqaf, the parliamentary secretary Shazia Sanghar answered the written and complementary questions of the members.
