- Galaxy S26 series could be announced in February
- Then we can buy the phones in March.
- There have been repeated rumors of a delayed release.
There’s another twist in the long-running saga of “when will Samsung actually launch the Galaxy S26 series?” – and now it looks like the phones won’t be available to purchase for some time after their big reveal.
According to veteran tipster @UniverseIce, the Galaxy S26 phones will be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked event in February, before going on sale in March. No further details are given, so the gap between the launch announcement and the on-sale date could be as small as a day or as large as 28 days.
That’s later in the year than the Galaxy S25 range, which debuted in January 2025, but we had been expecting a delay with 2026 phones. Part of the reason for the wait is believed to be that Samsung canceled the Galaxy S26 Edge model and decided to reinstate the Galaxy S26+ model.
There has also been talk of an internal debate within Samsung over what naming scheme to use for these phones, with occasional mentions of a Pro model. For now, however, it looks like the names will be the same as this year.
Soon
What I mean is that the Galaxy S26 series will be unveiled at a Galaxy Unpacked event in February and will go on sale in March. The long wait has begun.😃December 21, 2025
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the Galaxy S26’s release date and availability date aren’t in sync, but the previous rumor suggested an announcement in January before shipping in February, so it looks like Samsung’s schedule has been pushed back since then.
Samsung is usually very good at making its phones available as soon as they are announced or shortly after. For example, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, there were a couple of weeks between the foldable phone’s announcement and its availability for purchase (with pre-orders open in between).
All indications are that it will be a longer wait, perhaps reflecting the rather chaotic year that Samsung seems to have had when it comes to lining up its products and deciding whether or not to launch a successor to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which (like the iPhone Air) doesn’t seem to have been very popular.
As usual, it would seem that most of the major updates will be exclusive to the Ultra model when it comes to the Galaxy S26 series – we may see a battery increase and a camera increase, in addition to the standard year-over-year performance increase.
