Google is configured to give Google Pixel phone users an important update with a new VIP option that will facilitate connection with your closest friends and family in person and by phone.
The update appeared unexpectedly over the weekend for some owners of Google Pixel, and included references to a service called ‘VIP Pixel’.
Based on details shared by 9to5google – The Play Store list you shared for Pixel VIP is no longer available at the time of writing.
They are marked with an extra green heart symbol, and taking advantage of their contact icon, or using the Widget Vip, will take it to a page that details information about them. You can see when it connects for the last time with them, where they are, how far it is, how is the weather with them and what is their hourly zone, and finally, notes on them. In the screenshots of the application, we see that a user has left reminders about the name of his friend’s dog, who need a new yoga carpet and important details of his life.
It seems that the application also suggests possible activities that you could do together, with the option of refining those options.
The best new characteristic of Google Pixel?
Honestly, much of this seems really useful and could be one of the best phone features I have seen so far in 2025.
I am not the greatest admirer of people monitoring, although it seems that this function can be activated and deactivated for specific VIP contacts based on screenshots, but otherwise it sounds like a perfect tool.
I am terrible with the names, so I will remember that my friend has a pet or brother, but I can have difficulty remembering what they are called, and I have definitely taken mental notes about possible great ideas of gifts based on something they said and immediately an hour later.
Even the suggestions of activity of AI sound by hand.
It is easy to enter the routine of making the same meeting places, so it would definitely appreciate suggestions for different things to prove that they are similar to the activities that you and the VIP already enjoy. Yes, another AI can already offer a similar service, but this tool is integrated into its contact page instead of a totally different application.
Unfortunately, it is not clear when this ‘VIP’ function could be launched.
While an update has apparently implemented, Google also seems to have eliminated the mention, which suggests that the update was an error.
In addition, it has not yet appeared in the Android 16 Beta, nor was it discussed in Google I/or 2025, however, that does not mean that it is years away.
I hope you are on the way to Android soon, and that Samsung offers a function like this for Galaxy phone users, since otherwise you could add another point to the growing list of reasons why you should change to a Google pixel.
