- There is a new update for Windows 11 24h2 in preview
- It offers a full characteristics load, although some are exclusive to co -filter+ PC
- The new skills include an supercharged search in the configuration, the cross service curriculum with ONEDRive files, new useful HDR options and much more
Windows 11 version 24h2 is ready to receive a lot of new features soon, and are already in an optional patch for those who wish to try early waters.
The pre -view update for May (collected by Neowin) will become the full June patch next month, and comes with some changes only for co -driver+ PCs, as well as many treats for those with a traditional Windows 11 PC.
We will start with the latter, since most people still have a standard Windows 11 device, and an interesting addition to everyone with KB5058499 update is a new cross -device curriculum function.
As Microsoft explains, you can now resume work in a OneDrive file on your PC if you were previously playing with you on your smartphone (Android or iOS). Windows 11 will ask for a notification that verifies if you want to resume work in a file you were using on your phone in the last five minutes, which is an ingenious touch.
There are also improvements for those with an HDR screen, with new options in the configuration, including a better explanation of what “Use HDR” means, and a lever to activate Dolby Vision (or turn it off) regardless of HDR. Windows 11 will also transmit the HDR video throughout its glory, even if HDR has deactivated (for the environment of the operating system, games, etc.).
The new action options (as seen above in the tests) now appear when it drags a file from a folder (in the file explorer), with suggested applications that appear on a tray at the top of the screen, so you can release the file there to conveniently share it directly to any of those applications.
In addition, when writing with access to voice, you can now deactivate the blasphemous filter, and in the configuration application, a frequent question has been implemented that indicates more about the specifications of your PC and what it really means. (Putting a certain perspective as good is your graphics card or how the amount of RAM of the system you have could affect the performance of Windows 11).
It is also worth noting that Microsoft has reintroduced the ability to open co -pilot with the Windows + C key The shortcut as an alternative for those who do not have a dedicated co -driver button. In addition, if you hold that shortcut (or the co -driver button), it will invoke ‘press to speak’ with the AI assistant, for which you can use voice commands (if you have a microphone).
Exclusive Copillot+ PC
In the case of Co -Plot+ PCs, May’s optional update goes to the city with new features to click to do, the complementary feature introduced with the memory that provides actions related to AI sensitive to context.
That includes a new Ask Co -ilot option within the Click to Ho menu that appears when an image or block of text is selected, which opens the AI assistant with the highlighted content ready for consultation.
In addition, smart text actions that were previously available with Snapdragon (ARM) Copilot+ PCs are now out of devices with AMD or Intel processors. This gives you options within clicks to summarize quickly or rewrite the text (or turn it into a list), all of which is achieved using the powers of the integrated in Windows 11. (Specifically, this is the small language model ‘Phi Silica’, and means that the work is done well on the device, not in the cloud).
Microsoft has also made those with an optical pencil can have the direct access button on the open pen to do (with a single click or double), and now it is possible to make the function one of the four applications specified in the pen menu.
In addition, click to do now is available in the European economic area, with all these fresh movements in tow.
Finally, there is a great movement with Co -Plot+ PCs in the introduction of an AI of supercharged search for the configuration application. You can write a natural language consultation in the Windows 11 search box in the taskbar to find any configuration you want, such as ‘Change my desktop wallpaper’ that will appear the relevant part of the configuration application.
Also with Narrator, the Integrated screen reading tool in Windows 11, AI now produces descriptions for images on web pages (or other content) where this alternative text (ALT) has not been provided.
Analysis: A gradual display of ingenious powers
Keep in mind that this is an optional update as noted, so if you take it now, you can find errors. Since, the generally perceived wisdom is that most users will be better waiting until the previous view update becomes a complete version, which will happen next month (June 10 to be precise).
If you cannot wait to try some of these characteristics, jump to this update by all media, you will find it registering in Windows Update as usual. However, remember that all these characteristics are labeled as a gradual deployment, so it can take a little time for part of this functionality to filter its PC. In this case, that is another reason to be patient and wait until June.
Here are some ingenious powers, and changes in HDR, frequent hardware questions in the configuration and additional file exchange options are welcome. The supercharged search is a definitive culminating point, but that is only for Copilot+ PCs, so most people will not get it.
Another remarkable movement is the curriculum of the cross device, which seems intelligently implemented, and this is a space to see why Microsoft is ready to expand this capacity in the future. We should see that this becomes a much broader work, allowing all applications to resume in this way through their phone and PC eventually, not only the OneDrive files.
In summary, this should be Microsoft’s equivalent to Apple’s transfer function, or at least that is the theory based on heavy tracks that the company fell recently (and quickly retracted).
