KARACHI:
The Sindh Assembly Parliamentary Committee has decided to have a third party re-review the documents of students who have reservations about the 11th grade results.
A committee meeting was held to inquire into the results of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) under the chairmanship of Education Minister Syed Sardar Shah. The meeting was also attended by opposition leader Ali Khursheedi, Jamaat-e-Islami MP Muhammad Farooq and other members.
During the meeting, the committee’s Terms of Reference (ToR) were finalized and it was decided that the students’ results would undergo third-party scrutiny. Additionally, council administration will provide a briefing at the next committee meeting.
The committee assured that no injustice will be done to the students.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Provincial Education Minister Sardar Shah said legislation is being drafted on the assembly resolution regarding the appointment of university vice-chancellors. The assembly referred to the standing committee the question of whether a vice-chancellor can be a bureaucrat.
The complaint of the affected students will also be part of this meeting, while the directors and presidents of the four boards will also be invited to the next meeting.
Opposition leader Ali Khursheedi said the committee was constituted keeping in mind the future of the student. The committee was entrusted with the responsibility of examining any problems in the results.
At the meeting, the committee’s mandates were discussed and the conditions for the investigation were established.
The aim is to address complaints from students who have faced injustices regarding their results.
