Jamal appeared for a training day of Pakistan during the house test series against England in December last year with “804” written at the bottom of his floppy disk. That is the number of prisoners for Imran, who has been imprisoned since August 2023 and faces multiple long -term prayers for corruption and other positions. Imran says that charges are politically motivated. The number has become a cry of popular and identifying meeting among his followers, heard in the demonstrations of his political party of PTI and even during a couple of PSL games last year.
As Jamal was in the training kit and not during a party day expressing a political message, it was not a violation of the CPI. But the PCB code of conduct reflects that of the CPI.
Jamal has been fined under clause 2.23 of that code that establishes:
Public criticism, or inappropriate comments in relation to the Board, any of its officials or sponsors or policies, the CPI or any of its officials or sponsors, players, support personnel of players or officials of party, including referees and referees of parties, irrespective when such criticisms or inappropriate comments are made.
The clause indicates that players cannot “comment on any sensitive, community, racial, sectarian, political, etc.”.
It is believed that the fine is unusually great for rape, indicating that it could be giving an example, instead of specifically punishing disciplinary violation.
Imran was the prime minister until he was withdrawn by a parliamentary vote of non -confidence in May 2022. He and his party have disagreed with the current government of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Mohsin Naqvi, the current president of the PCB, is a key figure in the current government as Minister of the Interior and by Constitution, is appointed for the PCB of the Prime Minister.
Jamal was one of several fined players during the winter for various disciplinary violations and curfew.
