While the football world was wrapped where Shedeur Sanders was going to go on day three of the NFL 2025 draft, Adam Schefter of ESPN left other quarterback news that is very significant for a certain MVP free agent.
Aaron Rodgers remains without a team for the 2025 season, since he has not made his decision about who to play.
One of those potential teams was the Minnesota Vikings, since JJ McCarthy, the team’s first round in 2024, did not touch the field last season due to an injury that ends the season. However, the main office has been inflexible that McCarthy is the man of work, addressing this season, but speculation about a possible Rodgers agreement remained afloat.

Maybe that has officially arrived after Schefter revealed during the transmission of the ESPN draft that the Vikings had acquired Sam Howell from the Seattle Seahawks. Howell then confirmed the trade, making a position on Instagram.

In exchange for Howell, Minnesota sent his selection 142 in the fifth round, which the Seahawks used in the defensive liner Rylie Mills. Two selections later, Sanders was finally taken by the Cleveland Browns.
So where does that leave Rodgers for 2025?
The Pittsburgh Steelers are still the favorites of their services, and their draft mentality seemed to show that they still believe he has a good opportunity to sign. When Pittsburgh went to a field marshal in the first round, choosing to go with the defensive Tackle of Oregon Derrick Harmon, many were surprised.

The surprise only increased the weight when the Steelers continued to select other positions of need for their list that is not quartback day two. Finally, after Sanders was taken, the Steelers selected Will Howard from Ohio State, a Native of Pennsylvania, in the sixth round.
The owner of the Steelers, Art Rooney II, and chief coach Mike Tomlin have publicly shown interest in bringing MVP’s field four times to lead his offensive after his failed mandate with the New York jets.
“That is certainly a possibility,” Tomlin told NFL Network about making a decision of Rodgers soon. “I will not forecast the IFS and when with respect not only to him, but also to any other free potential agent. We have had really productive conversations with him, and I have enjoyed having productive conversations with him and knowing him.”
Ultimately, it seems that the decision is completely from Rodgers at this time. Retirement, as was when his time with the Green Bay Packers was clearly before the 2023 campaign, is still in the cards.

But the real options are really due to a single team that could use its services for the next season. The Steelers also did attractive things for Rodgers, bringing DK Metcalf in an exchange with Seahawks to add to their offensive fire power, which includes George Pickens, Jaylen Warren, Pat Freiersuth and the Kaleb Johnson’s novice corridor outside Iowa.
In addition to Howard, the Steelers brought Mason Rudolph and signed Skylar Thompson to fill their quarterback room.
