- It is rumored that Siri’s high update of Apple reaches ‘spring 2026’
- A new Mark Gurman report in Bloomberg states that Siri Apple’s intelligence motor is scheduled for an iOS 26.4 version
- A year is a long time in the world of AI. Is that too long to wait?
As WWDC 2025 comes to an end, a new report is expected to affirm that the main update of Siri of Apple, driven by Apple Intelligence, is launched in ‘Spring 2026’.
According to Mark Gurman, writing for Bloomberg, Apple has “established an internal launching goal of Spring 2026 for its delayed update of Siri, marking a key step in its artificial intelligence response effort.”
Earlier this week, the company showed the future of iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Vision Pro Software, changing the nomenclature scheme so that it coincides with the year in which it corresponds to the operating system. The nickname of “26” of iOS, ipados, macos, watchos and visions includes characteristics of AI, however, Apple’s most anticipated is still missing.
Gurman states that Siri’s update, which will allow the voice assistant who is aware on the screen and personal context, is now scheduled for iOS 26.4, which, based on previous software throws, must arrive around March or April next year.
Gurman’s sources told him that an exact date had not been established internally, “beyond a spring period.” It is also worth noting that this time frame could change, especially taking into account that Siri was supposed to be thrown out as part of iOS 18 and initially appeared on WWDC 2024.
Is Siri’s agitation ended?
The last year has been rocky for Apple, to say at least. The Cupertino -based company showed Apple Intelligence in June 2024, highlighting how “AI for the rest of us” was going to change the way iPhone users interact with their smartphones.
Unfortunately, Apple’s intelligence characteristics that have been launched, such as Genmoji, Writing Tools and Visual Intelligence, have received a somewhat warm answer while users wait in advance to the true AI Siri that promised himself.
My colleague Lance Ulanoff spoke with the Senior Vice President of Apple software engineering, Craig Federight, and the Vice President of Apple Greg Joswiak global marketing marketing after the key note of WWDC 2025 earlier this week.
During the interview (on which you can read and see here), Federight said: “We got for months, making Siri work better and better in more applications, better and better to do a search,” Federighi added. “But fundamentally, we found that the limitations of architecture V1 did not lead us to the level of quality that we knew that our clients needed and expected.” This led Apple to postpone the launch of Siri’s main update in March this year.
Now, we have a clearer idea of when to expect the review of Apple’s intelligence from Siri, although that is almost another year away, and a year in the world of AI is an incredibly long time.
For ‘Spring 2026’, Apple’s competitors like Google and Openai have opened the gap further? And if so, will Apple have put all this effort in a solution of AI that becomes Bloatware on an iPhone while users choose to use Gemini Live or Chatgpt voice mode?
‘Spring 2026’ is just an estimate, but that has to be the last possible arrival for a very necessary Siri update; Any other delay, and I think that the loyal Base of Apple users could feel even more frustrated with Tim Cook and company.
