QUETTA:

The president of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami (PKMAP), Mahmood Khan Achakzai, has given alarm for growing tensions in the Middle East, particularly between Iran and Israel, warning of serious repercussions for Pakistan.

Speaking at a press conference in Quetta, the veteran politician and head of the movement for the protection of the Constitution of Pakistan urged the nation to avoid being entangled in external conflicts, stating: “The wars of power are returning to our region, and we must wake up before it arrives too late.”

Achakzai lamented the constitutional challenges of long data from Pakistan, remembering how initially there were deliberate delays in the drafting of a Constitution. Once established, he said, the Constitution was systematically undermined. He painted a gloomy image of the current state of the country, describing it as added in a deep political, constitutional and economic crisis.

The comments occurred after a two -day meeting of the work committees and central executive of PKMAP. Achakzai accused the current government of lacking legitimacy, stating that the public mandate had been stolen and that the Constitution was being raped openly. “If this government remains in power, it will inflict irreparable damage in the country,” he warned.

Citing a recent World Bank report, Achakzai said that more than 45 percent of Pakistan’s population now lives below the poverty. He criticized the disproportionate assignment of the national budget towards the debt and defense service, at the expense of public welfare. The PKMAP chief even more denounced the Judiciary, the media and the ruling elites for not safeguarding democratic principles, and proposed the seizure of illegal assets of public officials to help compensate for national debt.

Achakzai reiterated his demand for the immediate release of the founder of PTI Imran Khan and other political detainees.
