- Adobe is removing its cheapest 20GB storage tier for Creative Cloud
- The measure comes into force on January 15, 2025.
- This is intended to encourage users to migrate to more expensive annual subscriptions.
The Adobe Creative Cloud 20GB Photography Plan is designed for amateur and professional photo editors and offers low-cost access to industry-standard Photoshop and Lightroom tools.
However, starting January 15, 2025, Adobe will be phasing out this popular plan, and according to our previous report, existing users will still be able to keep their subscriptions, albeit at a higher cost.
In the US, the 20GB plan will increase from $9.99 to $14.99 per month for users who already subscribe to it; an increase of 50%. The 1TB plan for Photoshop and Lightroom remains unchanged at $19.99 per month. The Lightroom-only 1TB plan increases from $9.99 to $11.99 monthly, a 20% increase.
Large (cost increases) in Japan
Recent reports from Japan (originally published in Japanese) reveal that the 20GB Photography and Lightroom plan will receive similar treatment there.
Currently priced at 1,180 yen per month, the monthly plan will increase to 1,780 yen upon renewal after January 15, 2025.
As in the US, any user who does not subscribe to the 20GB plan before January 15 will no longer be able to do so.
The report also states that the annual balloon payment option, which costs 14,080 yen (equivalent to approximately 1,173 yen per month), will remain available and will not be affected by the price increase.
Additionally, Adobe will provide a prorated refund for any remaining period on the monthly plan for those who transition to the annual option.
