Installation of equipment to help ensure timely baggage screening and improve airport security.
KARACHI:
Authorities have decided to install modern scanning machines at Karachi airport and other busy airports across the country.
According to sources, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and Airport Security Force (ASF) have completed a comprehensive study to install new scanning machines at major airports including Karachi.
The installation of advanced scanning equipment will help ensure timely screening of passenger luggage and significantly improve airport security. The CAA, PAA and ASF have jointly accelerated work on the project.
Under the supervision of the CAA, the PAA and the ASF will complete the objective of installing the new scanning machines, which will improve passenger facilitation and ensure speedy baggage screening.
The project, worth billions of rupees, involves installing state-of-the-art scanning machines at airports in Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore and other cities.
These modern systems are expected to play a key role in preventing all forms of smuggling through airports while further strengthening overall security measures. Sources added that the new scanning machines will be installed in accordance with international civil aviation standards.
