- Apple is working in a smart domestic center driven by Siri
- Now, the center could be delayed in the predictable future
- This is because it is based on the characteristics of Siri that Apple recently postponed
According to reports, Apple sought to expand even more in the space of the smart house in 2025 with an Home Hub device that would combine a speaker with a screen, which could make it one of the best smart speakers. Unfortunately, there have been some bad news for those who expect it, since Apple has delayed the device in the predictable future.
The news comes through the power of Bloomberg Mark Gurman’s reporter in the newsletter. There, Gurman explains that Apple “hoped to announce this product in March.” However, with more than a third of the month already disappeared, that now seems very unlikely, and it seems that delays could prolong due to Apple’s problems by displaying their siri infused with AI.
The Apple Local Center will apparently depend largely on some of the improved Siri capabilities that Apple caused last June at its WWDC 2024 conference. These characteristics include understanding their personal context and performing tasks in the application.
However, the news arose last week that Apple would postpone those characteristics. In a statement to the Apple blog, Daring Fireball, Apple explained that “it will take more time than we think about delivering these characteristics and anticipating implement them next year.”
According to Gurman, Apple feels that Smart Home Hub is unfeasible without those missing characteristics. That means we will have to wait for the improved Siri experience later in the year before Hub makes an appearance.
Apple vs Amazon
And I could get worse. In a report published last week, Gurman declared that some Apple senior executives are so concerned about the state of Siri’s promised characteristics that the entire system could have to be discarded and rebuilt from scratch. If that happens, the characteristics may not reach until 2026.
That could mean that Apple loses significant land against rivals like Amazon. The company recently announced house assistant Smart Alexa+, which infuses Amazon’s house devices with artificial intelligence powers (AI). That is exactly Apple’s Smart Home Hub area, and Apple will not want to lose too much initiative here.
That said, it seems that the Hardware of the Apple domestic center is closer to a finished state than its software. Gurman reported in his possession in the newsletter that Apple selected employees have been taking the centers home for tests and evaluation in situ. That suggests that the device itself is not very far from being ready, even if your Siri software is very far.
As for when we will see this product, the store shelves, that is a assumption of anyone. If Apple can do a miracle and fix Siri in the coming months, we may not have to wait too long. But judging by Gurman’s reports, we can have a long delay in our hands.
