  • Kabul decides to update the ties after the Islamabad movement.
  • Elevation paves for improved bilateral cooperation: Ministry.
  • The movement occurred after the FM China organized a meeting between the nations.

Islamabad: A day after Pakistan improved his diplomatic ties with Afghanistan, Kabul also announced his diplomatic position in Islamabad to the status of full ambassador, said Minister of Foreign Affairs Afghan.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan welcomes Pakistan’s decision to improve the level of its diplomatic mission in Kabul to that of an ambassador,” the Ministry wrote in X.

“In reciprocity, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan will raise the status of his mission in Islamabad de ChargĂ© d’Affires to Ambassador,” he added.

The Afghan Foreign Ministry added that this elevation in the diplomatic representation between Afghanistan and Pakistan pave the path for improved bilateral cooperation in multiple domains.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have embassies in the capital of the other, but were led by affairs, not ambassadors.

China was the first country to accept an ambassador of the administration led by the Taliban in Kabul, although it does not formally recognize its government. Several other states followed, including the United Arab Emirates (EAU).

Pakistan and Afghanistan made the announcements days after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, organized a meeting between Islamabad and the Afghan Taliban administration and said that the two nations “expressed a clear will to raise diplomatic relations.”

The neighbors agreed in principle to send ambassadors to the countries of others as soon as possible, YI said after their conversations with the Interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, Amir Khan Muttaqi and FM Dar.

The two nations share a porous edge that covers around 2,500 kilometers with several crossing points, which is important as a key element of regional trade and relations between people on both sides of the fence.

The issue of terrorism remains a key issue for Pakistan, which has urged Afghanistan to prevent its soil from being used by groups such as TTP to carry out attacks within the territory of the first.

However, days before, a commander of the Afghan Taliban, Saeedullah Saeed, warned Fitna al-Khwarij terrorists against the fight against Pakistan’s forces, making attacks on behalf of the Jihad.

Meanwhile, Islamabad and Beijing also agreed to extend the Economic Corridor of China-Pakistan (CPEC) to Afghanistan, reaffirming their commitment to improve regional connectivity and economic cooperation.

Tensions seemed to facilitate after a rare meeting between Muttaqi and give in Kabul last month, where the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban expressed concern about the deportation of tens of thousands of Afghanos of Pakistan.

During the meeting, both parties agreed to continue the dialogue in a constructive and positive atmosphere to address bilateral concerns, including security, commerce, transit cooperation and broader ties.
