Perplexity has launched the innovative notion of a ‘personal computer’, offering users a highly integrated AI-backed personal assistant directly within the macOS interface.
The multi-model system uses 20 frontier models, AI search and agent Internet access. In its announcement, Perplexity suggests that AI itself become a computer, capable of understanding goals, using tools, and performing jobs autonomously.
“The PC is powered by a dedicated Mac mini that can run 24/7, connected to your local applications and Perplexity’s secure servers,” the company said.

Perplexity’s personal computer acts as a digital proxy, which can be accessed and controlled from any device anywhere. The company emphasized that all safeguards, such as a kill switch for immediate shutdown in case of dishonest behavior and audit trails, are built in.
The announcement comes amid the growing popularity of OpenClaw, another personal assistant that users are installing on Mac minis.
And for enterprise-level customers, the company also promises to integrate with third-party software like Snowflake, Salesforce, and HubSpot through app connectors. The Comet Enterprise Browser also serves as an AI-based browser for enterprise customers, and Perplexity recognizes that most of today’s work is accessed online.
Perplexity claims to have saved $1.6 million in labor costs and completed 3.25 years of work in just four weeks using this tool.
Four of the APIs that power PCs (Search, Agent, Embeds, and Sandbox) are also available to developers.
To further improve accuracy in some of the most common workflows Perplexity claims to observe, the company is also adding premium sources for accurate and up-to-date information, partnering with companies like Statista, CB Insights, and Pitchbook. Other live data sources, including filings with the SEC, S&P Global, Coinbase, LSEG, and more, will improve financial accuracy.
