- Apparently, a source has revealed the next MacBook Air chips identifier
- This identifier corresponds to Apple’s M4 chip
- The M4 MacBook Air is expected to launch in a few weeks
All signs point to the imminent launch of a new MacBook Air M4 with Apple’s last M4 chip, and a new track has emerged that applies more that idea.
According to Macrumors, a mysterious private account about X (previously Twitter) recently shared models identifiers for the next MacBook Air. These are the codes that Apple uses to classify its devices and components. In this case, the source said that the next 13 -inch MacBook Air models and his 15 -inch brother would be equipped with the T8132 chip, which Macrumors believes that it corresponds to the M4.
The macrumors did not share the source, so we cannot independently verify what they have said. However, there has been a constant flow of macbook air leaks in recent weeks, and many sources claim that the laptop will be launched soon.
Apple often launches new products in March or April, which could be when we will see the M4 MacBook Air.
A modest update?
Before getting too excited, this MacBook Air update is not expected to be particularly innovative. Surely you will get the M4 chip, but it is expected a little more. According to what we have seen in the MacBook Pro, the M4 chip will probably bring modest performance improvements instead of anything really revealing.
Apple will almost surely remain with the same design as the M3 Macbook Air, with its flat edges and its Slimline chassis. Nor would we expect that many characteristics of the MacBook Pro arrive at the MacBook Air, discarding new features such as the Dynamic Promotion Update rate and the Nano-Texture Glass option that reduces the glow and reflections.
However, there could be a larger memory bandwidth, which could allow you to connect two external screens without the need to close the laptop cover. Nor would we be surprised to see a more efficient neuronal engine to improve artificial intelligence workloads.
If you have been considering buying a new Macbook Air, it would be worth retaining a little more until the M4 model sees the daylight. Based on the latest news, it seems that this could happen in the coming weeks.
