Islamabad:
After days of protests and tension in Azad Jammu and Kashmira (AJK), a great progress was made on Saturday as the Federal Government, the AJK administration and the Joint Awami action committee (Jaac) reached an agreement in what the leaders acclaimed as a “historical settlement.”
The negotiations were convened on the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and was presided by former Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf.
The federal side was represented by ministers Rana Sanaullah, Ahsan Iqbal, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, engineer Amir Muqam and Qamar Zaman Kaira. Ajk, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and Dewan Ali Choughtai participated, while Jaac was represented by Raja Amjad, Shaukat Nawaz Mir and Anjum Zaman.
A high -level monitoring and implementation committee has been established under the leadership of the Federal Minister of Cashmir, Amir Muqam, with representation of the AJK government and the JAAC, to supervise the application of the agreement and address possible disputes.
The agreement covers 12 nucleus and 13 additional points. Among the key provisions, the families of those killed in violence from October 1 to 2 will be compensated along with the security personnel and government jobs, while the injured will receive RS1 million each.
A judicial commission will be constituted to investigate the incidents of violence.
Two new educational boards will be established in Muzaffarabad and Poonch, linked to the Federal Board of Islamabad. The victims of the Expansion Project of the Mangla dam will receive land possession in 30 days. The amendments to the 1990 local government law will be promulgated within 90 days.
In 15 days, the AJK government will release funds for health cards, and magnetic resonance and computerized tomography will be provided in each district. The Pakistan government will provide RS10 billion to improve the AJK electricity system.
The AJK cabinet will have limited in 20 ministers and advisors, while the number of secretaries will not exceed 20. The Office of Responsibility and the Anti -Corruption Department will merge and will be aligned with the NAB laws. Viability studies will be carried out for two tunnels on Kahori/Kamser and Chaplani Neelum roads.
A high -level committee will examine the issue of the members of the Refugee Assembly, with their advantages and funds suspended until the final report. All assholes arrested during protests from October 2 to 3 will be released.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the success of the negotiation process in Azad Kashmir.
When paying tribute to the members of the negotiation committee, the prime minister praised his individual and collective efforts, qualifying development as a “great achievement for Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmira.”
He said that the restoration of peace and the normalization of the situation was a positive development. “The conspiracies and rumors have finally come to an end, and all matters have resolved friendly, Alhamdulillah.”
The prime minister also thanked the members of the Joint Action Committee for their role in the successful conversations and congratulated them for the restoration of peace.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, he said: “The government is always ready to solve the problems of our Kashmir brothers. Public interest and peace are our priority and we will continue to serve Azad Jammu and Kashmir.”
The prime minister urged AJK people to avoid paying attention to rumors and assured them that their rights would always be protected. “We have always been protectors of the rights of our Brothers and Sisters of Kashmiro and we will continue to safeguard their rights in the future too.”
The prime minister emphasized that his government had always paid special attention to AJK’s problems and solved them in a priority.
