AJK GOVT ‘Falling to Husming’ Kashmira Cause: Gilani

MUZAFFARABAD:

The Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmira (AJK) has failed to assume the “greater load of responsibilities” with respect to the Kashmir dispute and the ongoing freedom movement in the Valley.

These points of view were expressed by Dr. Syed Nazir Gilani, president of the Human Rights Council of Jammu and Cashmira, in a special conversation with this correspondent here on Sunday.

He pointed out that the people of Jammu and Kashmira was the main party in the plebiscite, with Pakistan as the second game. He added that the law of 1974, essentially equivalent to AJK’s annexation to Pakistan.

Unfortunately, the AJK government has “miserably failed” to extend this annexation to the Indian Jammu and Kashmir (Iiojk), he added.

Dr. Gilani argued that if the AJK government had managed to unite the people of all segments in Iiojk, particularly the Pandits of Kashmir, the Hindus, the Sikhs and the Buddhists, around the demand for self -determination, would have facilitated the annexation of the entire region of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan through a vote.

This, in turn, would have expanded the influence of Pakistan among the Cashmiris and has been reflected in the plebiscite with a vote in favor of Pakistan.

However, he argued that the AJK government not only failed to fulfill its responsibilities with respect to the freedom of Iiojk, but also shortening to expand the scope of the affiliation of the Kashmira with Pakistan.
