The negotiations between the Awami action committee Jammu Cashmira (Jaac) and the federal government have finally paid fruit, with key matters resolved and a final agreement is expected to be signed soon.

The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and a member of the Government’s negotiation team, Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, confirmed the development in a position on X, expressing optimism on an agreement.

“The issues have been resolved with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Action Committee (AJK). The final agreement is expected to sign up soon. The last round of negotiations is underway. Public interest and peace are our priorities,” said Chaudhry.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Planning and member of the Government’s negotiation team, Ahsan IQBAL, said that consensus had almost been achieved with members of the Jacious Action Committee (JAC). “Both parties are working on the final draft of the agreement, which is expected to be signed shortly,” he added.

Iqbal also said that governance problems were handled according to public feeling, “especially because young people are very sensitive to such matters.” He added that all JAC recommendations had been accepted to ensure that a good government prevails.

The minister said that a permanent committee has formed to avoid a similar situation in the future. The Committee will work under the Ministry of Request, will convene meetings every fifteen days and review the implementation framework in accordance with the agreement, ensuring that the consensus reached is fully implemented and not ignored.

On the issue of immigrants’ seats, Iqbal said it is constitutional and international importance in the context of Kashmir.
