Akram accuses play role in the least imran formula

Peshawar:

The Secretary of Central Information of Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI), Sheikh Waqas Akram, has claimed that the Chief of Elections Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja played a fundamental role in the implementation of the “Minimum Imran formula”.

Speaking at a press conference in Peshawar, Akram declared that no previous election commissioner in the country’s history had taken such a controversial position.

He stressed that the superior judiciary had repeatedly raised objections to the decisions of the CEC, and in response, the leader of PTI, Omar Ayub, had presented a reference against the commissioner in the Supreme Judicial Council.

Akram also said that PTI had completed its bases with respect to the appointment of a new CEC and urged the prime minister to form a parliamentary committee on the matter soon.

When addressing the issuance of a letter sent to the Army Chief, Akram confirmed that it was in fact written by the founder of PTI. “The message has been delivered to which it was destined,” he said. He also criticized the role of the CEC in “delaying the Senate elections” in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the assignment of seats reserved for women.

He also condemned the ongoing repression against the members of PTI, claiming that illegal arrests were occurring in Punjab and Baluchistan while the parties offices were being closed by force.

Akram announced that PTI supporters would meet throughout the country on February 8 to observe a “black day” and guarantee the success of the programmed manifestation of the party.
