Al Pacino is mourning the death of his “partner” and “friend,” Diane Keaton, who brought “happiness” into his life.

The American actor revealed to Deadline that he was “shocked” by the news of the death of his former romantic partner.

For the uninitiated, Keaton passed away at the age of 79 due to pneumonia on October 11.

Pacino, who has been reeling from the shocking news, dated Keaton on and off from 1971 to 1987.

“When I first heard the news, I was shocked,” he told the outlet Thursday.

The 85-year-old actor continued: “Diane was my partner, my friend, someone who brought me happiness and on more than one occasion influenced the direction of my life. Although it has been more than 30 years since we were together, the memories remain vivid and, with her death, have returned with a force that is both painful and moving.”

Recalling Keaton’s remarkable career and accomplishments, Pacino gushed, “He lived without limits and everything he touched carried his unmistakable energy. He opened doors for others, inspired generations, and embodied a once-in-a-lifetime gift that radiated through his work and his life.”

She concluded her statement by saying, “People will miss her, but more than that, they will remember her. She left a mark that cannot be erased. She was unstoppable, resilient, and, above all, deeply human. I will always remember her. She could fly, and in my heart, always will.”
