A heated exchange was performed at the entrance of Adiala Jail among lawyers representing Pakistan Tehreek-E-Insaf (PTI) and Aleema Khan, the sister of the founder of PTI Imran Khan, after a meeting between her and other family members with the former prison prime minister.
According to the reports, the confrontation occurred when Aleem Khan and the lawyers left prison after their meeting with Imran Khan.
At the entrance door, Aleema Khan faced lawyers’ leaders, accusing them of poor management of the situation and questioning their motives.
She firmly told lawyers that only those with specific responsibilities should be able to meet with her brother, Imran Khan, inside the jail.
“No lawyer will be allowed without responsibility,” he said. “What kind of drama are playing? Everyone comes to jail just to meet him. Our brother is inside, we love him and die for him.”
Aleem Khan also made it clear that no lawyer was authorized to present additional requests in court in his name unless he was someone with the appropriate authority. “Only Salman Akram and Salman Safdar can present requests,” he said.
In a new sample of frustration, she questioned lawyers about her efforts to guarantee her brother’s access to her necessary children. “My brother is not allowed to talk to his children, and his books are not reaching him,” he said. “Naeem Punjota, you are Bushra Bibi’s focal person, who are you?”
Naeem Punjota replied that he had not met with anyone and said he could only share his interactions according to the indications. Aleem Khan, visibly annoyed, confronted him more, saying: “Don’t be rude to me.” Punjota replied, saying: “I am not being rude. We have gone through prisons and have faced charges of ourselves.” Aleem Khan, in response, told him to remain silent and accused him of speaking disrespectfully.
As the tensions intensified, the lawyers present intervened and put aside Naeem Punjota. Aleem Khan, without retreating, continued questioning lawyers about the legal relief they had secured to Imran Khan.
