Almost all companies may need to carry out important technical changes as experts warned approaches to the end of the end of the life of Windows 10.
Cloudhouse research states that 90% of companies carry some form of Microsoft Windows technical debt, caused by delaying their new and most effective technology updates.
Microsoft is ready to officially finish the support for Windows 10 on October 14, 2025, after which the aged software set will no longer receive official updates or security patches, which could put users at risk of attack.
Windows 10 end life problems
These concerns are reflected in the survey, where 72% of respondents said they believe that outdated Windows systems increased their risk of cyber attacks.
More than half (51%) have suffered the inactivity time of the system directly linked to the technical debt, and around the same amount (48%) has already faced compliance problems during audits, and 41%of organizations that report regulatory compliance have become more difficult to maintain due to dependence on inherited windows systems.
Many companies say that they already face high costs due to their delay in addressing these problems, and almost half (45%) say that budgets are deviating from areas such as R&D to maintain inherited systems.
Despite these concerns, it was only discovered that 14% of organizations were proactively investing in solving or updating their legacy, while almost half only handle it reactively when something breaks.
“Technical debt is not just a technological problem, it is a commercial risk, a security gap and a human cost,” said Mat Clothier, CLOUDHOUSE CEO.
“The fact that 90% of organizations continue to carry the technical debt of Windows, so close to the end of the life of Windows 10, should be a call for attention. Consciousness is high, but the action is delayed.
