- The Runna application is integrated into Amazfit watches
- Amazfit’s Zepp app also has a new design and a new badge system
- The changes come to the Amazfit Balance 2 and T-Rex 3 Pro for now
Despite not being the biggest name in the game, Amazfit makes some of the best budget running watches on the market, and if you’ve been thinking about purchasing one, now is a good time, as the brand just saw two updates that make it an even better option for budget-conscious fitness fanatics.
The first is that the popular Runna app has just added support for Amazfit watches. Runna is one of the best fitness apps out there, with impressive analytics tools and a great community to join, so having it on your Amazfit watch is a significant boost.
Specifically, the partnership between the two companies means that users will be able to sync Runna workouts with the Zepp app on their Amazfit watch and then send completed activities to Runna, meaning the connection works in both directions. The integration is rolling out with the Amazfit Balance 2 and T-Rex 3 Pro devices, but other products are expected to get support in the future.
Runna has given Amazfit users some tips on how to best use the new capabilities. Also, note that you will only be able to sync running workouts at the moment and we’ll have to see if support for other workout types is added in the future.
A new coat of paint
That’s not the only improvement coming to Amazfit watches, as the company also announced that its Zepp app will receive a major facelift thanks to a revamped interface and a new badge system designed to keep you on track with your health and fitness goals.
The changes come to version 10 of the Zepp app, which is available on iOS. There, users have noticed that a new interface has been implemented, with a reorganized home screen, as well as more differentiated sections for their activities, metrics, training plans, and more. The design update also includes a wider range of colors in use, as well as a more modern look for the app.
In addition to the revamped interface, the Zepp app has a new Badges tab that aims to introduce an element of gamification to your fitness. Badges are awarded for reaching personal bests, long-term goals, achievements and challenges, while you can also view badges you haven’t unlocked yet. The goal seems to be to reward you for staying active and encourage you to continue your fitness progress over time.
With these two big changes (the Runna integration and the new design of the Zepp app), Amazfit users have received a couple of welcome features that should help improve their experience. And since Runna says it’s “actively working with Amazfit to extend workout sync to other devices,” more changes could be on the way.
