- Ben Conrad de AMD was interviewed by NotebookCck.net
- The Executive was asked about the perspectives of RDNA 4 laptops 4 in the future
- Conrad’s response was vague, but clearly suggests that we shouldn’t expect anything in the rdna 4 mobile front in the near future
AMD RDNA 4 graphics cards will soon arrive at the desktop PCs, in March 2025, but if I expected these next -generation GPUs to be in one of the best laptops of play in anything like the near future, well, well, Apparently you can forget that idea.
This newspipe comes from an interview that NotebookCck.net made with Ben Conrad de AMD, who is director of product management of a premium mobile customer in the company (through Videocardz).
The technology site asked the following question: “Do you see perspectives for RDNA laptops 4 onwards? Unfortunately, the DGPU -based SKU number has been quite anemic. ”
Conrad replied: “Our current graphics strategy focuses on the desktop market with RDNA 4. Then, I think you will see that type of products first in the future. Certainly, RDNA 4 and Future Graphics Technologies will reach mobile devices, either in APU or future products. “
To clarify, DGPU -based laptops mean notebooks with discrete graphics cards, which means a separate GPU, instead of integrated graphics (integrated into the processor, which is the solution with a good amount of laptops that are executed, due to space restrictions and thermal factors).
Therefore, the idea of a discrete graphics card of RDNA 4 RDNA 4, the equivalent laptop of the RX 9070 desktop card, for example, it is not something in the radar a closest to AMD term. We can get RDNA 4 products for mobile devices eventually, but Conrad is quite vague about when it could happen, which seems to be something that is in the return for now.
By 2025, then, it seems that the resting GPUs for laptops of games will be the RTX 5000 Mobile RTX 5000 graphics cards, and will not be challenged by any discrete offer of RDNA 4.
ANALYSIS: It’s not a surprise, really
Is this a big surprise? Anyway, not exactly, because Radeon has not been a great presence in discreet GPUs for laptops, and in addition to that, RDNA 4 has been a strange generation of AMD. With which I mean on the desktop, it was supposedly reduced to the middle -range GPUs such as faster offers (rumors point to a high -end solution initially), with the red equipment apparently focusing on making larger movements with the next generation. (That could be RDNA 5, or maybe you, what some consider that it is the next step in the AMD graphic roadmap).
There have also been rumors of some time ago that RDNA 4 is not planned for laptops, even in Apu with integrated graphics, for a long time. The great AMD apus (including Strix Point Halo, which is some important emotion) are using an integrated GPU that is RDNA 3.5 (an RDNA 3 update, something perfected), not RDNA 4.
In fact, the rumor has previously presented the idea that RDNA 3.5 (or RDNA 3+ As is known alternately) will be used in GPU integrated in APO of AMD for this year and in 2026.
Of course, all this is very deep in the field of speculation, but Conrad’s comments certainly fit the idea that RDNA 4 will be desktop GPU only for the predictable future.
That does not mean that nothing exciting is happening with AMD in the front of the laptop, of course, because Strix Hal For larger laptops with discreet GPUs. Even so, the statement is that the graphics integrated in the APU RYZEN AI MAX+ 395 (Strix Halo) exceeds the RTX 4070 laptop graphics card, an eyebrow elevation statement.
