- RTX 5060 TI of Nvidia is already present in the upper GPUs for Steam players
- It has a small but appreciable market share of 0.21%, less than two months after its launch
- AMD RX 9070 models have not yet appeared on the Steam Hardware Survey, although their fortunes can change with RX 9060 GPUs
The RTX 5060 TI GPU of NVIDIA has only been out for a month and a half, but it has already been established as a best -selling graphics card than AMD RX 9070 models, according to the latest Steam hardware survey for May.
In fact, as Videcardz stood out, the new AMD RDNA 4 GPUs have not yet managed to appear on the list of the most popular graphics cards, with the platforms of the Steam players, while the RTX 5060 TI is in a market share of 0.21% after less than two months.
That is the second largest gain of the month, only behind the RTX 5070, which collected 0.33% of the GPU market share to end at 0.71%.
The RTX 5080 also dragged up to 0.47%, a gain of 0.09% for the month of May. With the increase in RTX 5070 TI by 0.11% to a total of 0.38%, the RTX 5000 family represents 1.77% of all PC for Steam games, according to this snapshot last month.
While AMD RX 9070 models have not yet won any percentage point in the survey, despite having been released in early March, three months ago.
Of course, take the results of a survey with an appropriate amount of caution, although this month it does not seem to have been affected by any regional rarity. Sometimes, we can see a significant change in the PC number included in Asia, which have different hardware preferences, and this can make specific GPUs seem that they have gained popularity, when in reality it is simply a reflection of the makeup of respondents.
Analysis: Prices on the shelf and consumer perceptions
Why are AMD RX 9070 models stir in terms of their inability to have an impact on the Valve survey?
That is a difficult question to answer, but somewhere, it may be due to supply levels and prices. RX 9070, and particularly 9070 XT, have suffered a low stock of graphics cards in the MSRP. There are models on the shelves, but the price is inflated and will pay much more. At the time of writing in the US, the 9070 XT comments around $ 800, the simple 9070 around $ 650, at its cheapest price.
Despite the brilliant criticisms of 9070 XT, the premium price puts this GPU out of reach of the average PC owner. And almost the same for Vanilla 9070, or at least puts the brakes in sales considerably. What happens with the RTX 5060 you is that you can collect one for only $ 390, so it is a big difference.
According to it, it is a different class of GPU, granted (XX70 versus XX60), and the RTX 5060 TI models with 8 GB of video RAM (VRM) also have a bite in the tail with that thin assignment of VRM. Which means that performance is not as good as the 16 GB version of this NVIDIA graphics card, which has a price close to $ 500 or so (all prices are correct at the time of writing).
Even so, the average player may not matter much of these performance differences. And, in fact, the RTX 5060 TI 8GB will be sufficient if everything that is interested is to play some less demanding PC games with a 1080P resolution without maximizing graphics options. However, present this graphics card with work loads of more challenging games for your vram load, and has problems, at least if you want higher graphics details, even with a 1080p resolution, you will be looking to use medium details.
However, as noted, this may not matter to a typical buyer who only wants to pay a new avant-garde graphics card, and is happy to go with an RTX 5060 ti because it sounds close enough (-ish) for an RTX 5070 on paper, without completely understanding the wrinkles around Vram, if it turns through the 8GB. This also applies a lot to RTX 5060, of course, which also has 8 GB.
It will be interesting to see if the Plain RTX 5060 soon premieres in the Steam Hardware Survey: it has faced many criticisms and flak, to say the least, and in fact we have the RX 9060 entrantes models of AMD, which are now imminent.
The price and availability of these more affordable RDNA 4 graphics cards will be, of course, key, and although the Red team has launched the MSRP at a very affordable level, will that be translated with real prices on the shelves?
That is exactly what No It happened with the RX 9070 models (yet), and it will be the crucial factor for this next release of RDNA 4.
