- Android 16 is now available, with new features such as live updates and security tools
- Many other characteristics of Android 16, together with their visual review, are not present and rumored that will land on September 3
- This initial deployment is only for Pixel phones, with other brands configured to launch Android 16 at the end of this year
Android 16 has now landed, and if that seems unusually early for you, you are right, since Android’s latest versions have landed towards the end of their launch years, with Android 15 only throwing themselves in October.
So this is a quick change for the latest version of Android of Google, which perhaps explains why the most anticipated and substantial characteristic is absent.
Specifically, Android’s visual review, nicknamed material 3 expressive, which Google showed not long ago, is not yet here. That will land as part of the QPR1 of Android 16 (quarterly version of Platform 1), which according to a source that speaks with Android Authority will be released to Pixel devices on September 3, that is around the moment we normally expect to see new numbered versions of Android.
According to reports, on September 3 is also when we will see the Android 16 desktop mode, which allows you to connect your phone to a monitor and interact with a desktop interface, just like Samsung has been offering for years with its DEX mode.
And we will probably also see smaller updates, such as a more organized sound configuration screen, which has been detected by Android Authority in the last beta qpr1 Android 16.
Even so, that does not mean that this first version of Android 16 is not worth download. It includes several new features, such as live updates that give you real -time updates on things such as food deliveries and UBER requests on your lock screen.
You can also activate the advanced protection mode to help keep your phone protected from insecure websites, scam calls, harmful applications and other threats. Not all characteristics within Advanced Protection are new, but now you can activate all these safeguards with a single touch.
NOTIFICATED NOTIFICATIONS AND ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS
Android 16 will also group the notifications of a single application to maintain organized things, and there are improvements for hearing users, since now you can choose to use the microphone of your phone for audio entry during calls (instead of the hearing aid microphone), and control the volume of your hearing aid from your phone.
There are also smaller updates, such as a mode of exchange that provides faster access to the key details of the device, which accelerates the exchange process when you sell your phone.
These characteristics and others are now being implemented to compatible pixels (which means the Google Pixel 6 and more). If you are using another phone brand, then you will have to wait a little longer, with Google saying that the phone updates of other brands will arrive “later this year.”
