- Android Auto has a new free cam Dash application
- Use the incorporated chambers of the car to capture the road
- Automobile manufacturers must customize the application for their cars
If you want to add some additional security to your car or keep a record of what happens on the road while driving, then you have probably thought about collecting one of the best board cameras. But soon you can trust only the incorporated cameras of your car and Android Auto to do the job.
This is because Google has recently launched a new free Dashcam application through Android Auto, which car manufacturers can easily integrate into the services offered by their vehicles (seen by Android Authority).
Some cars already include board services that use their cameras, but each car manufacturer had to design these.
With Google offering this generic service through Android Auto, many drivers expect, including manufacturers, that manufacturers do not yet add this type of service to their vehicles finally because Google has made the process much simpler for them.
The documentation that Google has launched is quite deep because it is aimed at software developers who seek to adapt their application to fit their vehicles, so we analyze it and choose some outstanding aspects.
For example, the application recommends that you use external storage to keep video recordings so that you do not instantly fill the internal storage of your car. We also know that the Dash Cam service will begin automatically when it detects certain triggers, such as leading at a certain speed. These customization options potentially allow you to design your ideal dashboard configuration depending on your needs.
The developers can also configure notifications options, the limits of how long the files will be stored before being deleted, and a reference ‘streaming_module’ makes us think that you could see remotely the dashboard clips of your car of another device.
Now, the Android Auto app by Google is not as perfect as a real board camera.
On the one hand, this new system will only work if your car has cameras, and if you do, the cameras do not usually see what is happening inside the car, something you can get from the board cameras.
On the other hand, you cannot simply install the Android Auto Board camera today: you will have to wait for your vehicle to obtain support in an update.
But as more vehicles have cameras to help with parking, the basic autonomous capabilities, the detection of road signs and other driver assistance features, this Android Auto update will be a great update for many of our cars and could quickly become one of the best functions of Android Auto.
