Dhaka: The annual meeting of the Cricket Council (ACC) of Asia (ACC) has been under a cloud of uncertainty after India began to press the member nations to oppose the scheduled meeting in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the sources confirmed on Friday.
According to reports, the opposition of India, due to Bangladesh’s place, has become a large -scale effort to prevent the meeting from taking place. The sources said that both the Indian government and the Cricket Control Board in India (BCCI) have launched campaigns behind the scene, urging the members to jump the session and offering several incentives in return.
In a parallel effort, the president of the ICC, Jay Shah, also began to press, urging the members members to write letters that oppose the Dhaka meeting and to retain participation.
According to experts, Sri Lanka and now Oman supported India’s position and opposed the meeting in Dhaka. However, the sources added that the majority of the members continue to support the event onwards as scheduled and have reaffirmed their support for President Mohsin Naqvi.
The president of ACC has called the meeting for July 24, while the member representatives will arrive in Dhaka on July 23. Meanwhile, India and Sri Lanka have formally requested that the meeting is postponed or transferred to a different place, citing their opposition to Bangladesh as host.
As tensions grow, experts say that the future of the annual session now hangs in balance.
Last month, it was reported that the long -awaited schedule for the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025 will be announced in July.
According to a report, the United Arab Emirates (EAU) have become a strong contender to organize the prestigious tournament due to the confrontation between the Cricket Board of Pakistan (PCB) and the BCCI.
Indian Media also reported that, if the plans proceed without problems, the tournament begins in the second week of September, and on September 10 it was considered an attempt to start.
