Bajaur:
The leader of the National Party Awami (ANP), Maulana Khan Zeb, was shot dead along with his police guard near Shandai Mor, on the flats of the headquarters of Khar Tehsil, Baja tribal district of Bajaur de Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. The mortal assault also left three other injured.
According to the sources, Maulana Khan Zeb, who also served as the Central Secretary of Religious Affairs at ANP, was actively campaigning for a peace march scheduled for July 13 in Bajaur when the unidentified assailants opened fire against their vehicle. The ANP leader and the Sherzada police officer was injured and succumbed to his wounds.
The injured, identified as Dr. Tariq, Shah Sawar and Usman, were transferred to a nearby medical center to receive urgent treatment.
After the incident, the ANP workers and the local residents organized a protest while carrying the coffin of the murdered leader near Khar Bazaar.
Funeral prayers by Maulana Khan Zeb will be offered today in their hometown, Nawagai.
The governor of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal, Karim Kundi, strongly condemned the tragic incident in Baja in the Bajaur of the merged district that claimed the life of the incremental Awami Party (ANP), Maulana Khan Zeb and the Police Police.
The governor expressed a deep sadness for the loss of precious lives and the most sincere condolences to the afflicted families.
“We sympathized with afflicted families during this painful time,” Governor Kundi said.
He offered prayers for deceased souls, looking for forgiveness for the deceased and patience for families to support the immense loss. “I share my deepest condolences with ANP leadership, party workers and mourning families affected by this heartbreaking incident,” he added.
