- DRON ANTIGRAVITY A1 has just announced officially
- You can shoot 8K 360 footage with first person flight
- The drone has a weight of less than 250 g to fly without restrictions
Today he sees the official announcement of the unmanned plane A1 Antigravity A1, and is a change of game.
Billing like the first 360 drone in the world, the A1 is a small and light flying camera with similar 360 -shooting skills at an insta360 x5. And it is not surprising, since it has been jointly developed by Insta360.
Our camera editor, Tim Coleman, has already had some practical time with the drone, and can read his initial anti -rave impressions A1, but if he only wishes the necessary facts for the drone, we have gathered the key information below.
1. It is the first 360 drone in the world (more or less)
Antigravity is promoting A1 as the first 360 drone in the world, and that is correct, at least technically. It is the first 8K 360 drone all in one that is announced at the time of writing.
However, it has been possible to add 360 video capture to certain DJI drones through the Insta360 sphere, an accessory released from 2022 that works in the same way as the configuration of the A1 camera.
It is fair to say that the sphere was the precursor of Insta360 of what we are seeing at the launch of today, but much less polished. You can see what our resident drone expert James Abbot made of him in his practical review of the Insta360 sphere.
2. Vuele a lot like the DJI Avata
The antigravity A1 is designed to fly using vision glasses and grip controller, which looks a lot like the easy -to -use FPV flight method pioneer by DJI Avata and Avata 2.
The manual FPV flight is a very difficult ability to dominate, and errors can mean a catastrophic fall in the soil. But the Avata method to use a head track controller and a movement monitoring sensor only point to the screen target where he wants the drone to fly, caused the FPV -style flight to be much simpler and much less risky.
The A1 seems to adopt a similar approach, but with less speed than avata. In our practical preview, Tim Coleman described the resulting flight experience as “Child’s game”:
“Use the joystick to point out the small ‘+’ symbol where you want to fly and the drone adjusts your path. The movement also works: aim at the controller to ascend, extend it from side to turn, and so on. It is not the flight of FPV emotions, especially given the upper speeds of the drone, but it is an introduction of drone pilot.”
3. You will need an application to create shared videos
With a traditional camera drone, the video is where the camera has pointed out. With the A1, everything that surrounds it is recorded, so the camera (virtual) must indicate in the postproduction.
This is done with an application. In an event prior to liberation, Tim resorted to the Insta360 Studio application, which will be familiar with the users of the cameras Insta360 X5 and other X series, to rethink its 360 images in dynamic camera movements. You can use the application to turn the horizon, create a “small planet” moving away or place the viewer in the pilot seat using a FPV -style angle.
Presumably, the Mobile application of Insta360 will also be compatible, and if so, you can also wait for the edition assisted by AI-AI. This takes care of the selection of shots, rethinking, transitions and even adds background music, which serves a shared clip in seconds.
4. I do not spare in security
The A1 is designed with new drones and families in mind, and as such comes with obstacle evasion and automatic return to the home to make sure it does not fall into false antihorials. It even includes a payload detector that avoids takeoff if unauthorized modifications or additional weight are added.
And there is good news for those who want additional protection. Antigravity has also informed us that he is working on propeller guards for the A1, which will be available as an optional accessory.
5. It will be launched worldwide in January 2026, but the price remains TBC
Antigravity remains with tight lips on the final price, launch packages and regional availability of the A1, but will say that it is scheduled to launch “worldwide” in January next year.
It is a long time to wait, but in the meantime, the company is executing a “co-creation creation project”, inviting creators to send their best ideas about how to use drone and their abilities.
Successful applicants will receive a DRON A1 prior to the launch to test and use for content creation, and will have the opportunity to win a part of a $ 20,000 awards.
