Apple Vision Pro headphones have not yet proven to be the success story that Apple expected, while much lighter smart glasses such as the Ray-Ban Meta Wayfarers have proven to be much more popular. Now, however, a new report has spilled beans on how Apple hopes to track vision pro, and how it could eventually move the target glasses of its high hanger.
The news comes from the Apple-Chi Kuo analyst, who published a new report claiming that Apple is currently working on seven different devices mounted on the head. That is much more than many people previously realized and suggests that Apple has not been discouraged by Vision Pro struggles.
In particular, Kuo believes that the first of these devices to gain real traction will be the Complete Ray-Ban competitors. According to Kuo, they could send 3-5 million units in 2027, the first year they go on sale. That could boost total sales of the increased reality glasses (AR) to more than 10 million units per year, says Kuo, suggesting that Apple’s specifications could be sold as hot cakes and eat a significant market share.

In fact, although Apple could arrive a little late at the party, Kuo does not seem to think that his rivals will get many significant successes.
This is because while Apple is struggling with the aspect of “operating system and software with AI engine” (as we have seen with Siri recently), its “robust hardware development and ecosystem integration capabilities” give it a great advantage. That could mean that Apple’s glasses prove to be a success, even though other companies come there first.
Seven developing products?
In general, Kuo says Apple is working on seven different products mounted on the head. Five of them have a solid release timeline, believes, while two have not yet been determined.
Three of the next devices will be complete headphones such as Vision Pro. That includes a Pro Vision with M5 Chip, which should be launched around the third quarter of 2025. It will only come with a new chip and no other change, which means that it will continue to be a niche product, says Kuo.
Then there will be a light headset “Vision Air” in the third quarter of 2027 with a lower price, a lighter frame and an iPhone chip inside. Then, in the second half of 2028, we should see a second generation vision with a new and lighter design, a MAC chip and a lower sale price.
On the side of the smart glasses, we will see the Ray-Ban style specifications mentioned above in the second quarter of 2027. Here, “audio reproduction, camera, video recording and environmental detection of AI” will obtain, in addition to “voice control and gesture recognition”, but there is no visualization functionality.
In the second half of 2028, Apple will launch a couple of smart glasses that add the visualization capabilities that are missing in their-Ban-Esque ray specifications. Kuo also says that there is an “additional variant” of this development product with a “subsequent production timeline and lower visibility.”
Finally, Apple is also working on a “visualization accessory,” believes Kuo, but its release date is less safe. Apparently it has stopped since the fourth quarter of 2024 and is “under review for repositioning and refinement of specifications.”
It would present a “tied connection to show content of Apple devices” (like an iPhone), but Apple has waited because it lacks a real competitive advantage against other products. Kuo believes that Apple can restart production, but there is no estimate when it could be.
In general, then, it seems that Apple has an extensive list of reality in development in its secret laboratories. However, if I expected a rapid follow -up of vision pro, or the rapid arrival of a cheaper headset, it is not lucky. With the first of these products that will not be launched until 2027, we still have something to expect.
