- Apple is working to make other voice assistants available on iOS according to a new report
- The measure is expected to be required to comply with the regulations of the European Union.
- You can make the action button on your iPhone load chatgpt or gemini right now
According to a new Mark Gurman report in Bloomberg, Apple is working to add the ability to use alternative voice assistants, including chatbots of AI such as Chatgpt and Gemini, instead of Siri on iPhone for the first time.
The measure occurs because Apple must comply with the expected regulations of the European Union.
Gurman cites “a person with knowledge of the matter” as a source of his history, but has a history of being precise when it comes to predicting what Apple will do next.
According to the same report, Apple is still working hard to make Siri, through Apple Intelligence, more credible conversation, and has even established Zurich offices to create a “LLM Siri” in the future that will be smarter.
Therefore, it is certainly not a case that Apple leaves Siri for other voice assistants, but it seems that it will have to allow third -party voice attendees to replace Siri on the iPhone if you want to continue selling iPhones in the EU in the future.
Using AI on your iPhone
Of course, that could mean that the ability to use a different voice assistant could be limited to only iPhones sold in the EU, but in any case, it opens the possibility of using Google assistant, or even Chatgpt or Gemini with its iPhone if you prefer Siri.
Siri can already transmit complex requests to Chatgpt, but the implementation is clumsy, and certainly not as soft as it would be if Chatgpt handled all voice assistant tasks by default.
Of course, you can actually use Chatgpt and Gemini with your iPhone at this time through your applications, but a while ago I discovered a good trick to call the voice mode from the AI since a simple pressure of the action button.
While AI chatbots cannot interact with the configuration of their phone, like Siri, at least, it gives you an idea of what it would be if Chatgpt or Gemini were your voice assistant, and it is an excellent way to open the applications quickly if you want to ask a question and need a answer quickly.
Call chatgpt and gemini
If you want to try this right now, just follow these steps:
In configuration, choose the action button and then shortcut. Show down on the list of applications you see here and choose Chatgpt or Gemini, and then choose ‘Start voice conversation’ or ‘talk live with Gemini’, of the options that appear …
(It is important to do it in the manner described above and not access ChatgPT or Gemini through the ‘Open application button …’, because this will not give you the options of voice mode).
Now, when you give it an action button and keep pressed, you will jump directly to a voice chat with your preferred chatbot.
In fact, I configured this a while ago on my iPhone and I still use it all the time. It really seems to me at hand when I have a question that needs an answer and I prefer to ask Chatgpt using my voice than start writing with the keyboard.
Remember, if you want to turn Siri completely, or reduce Siri’s accidental activations, then in configuration> Apple Intelligence & Siri> Talk & Type A Siri, you can turn off “Hey Siri” and change the configuration to activate it.
