Apple Macbook Air, possibly the most popular MAC and a laptop that feels regularly close to the top of our best list of laptops, is finally obtaining the M4 chip, a piece of Silicon Apple that first appeared on the iPad Pro last year and then in Macbook Pro. It is also surprising to see a price drop.
While it is fundamentally the same laptop as MacBook Air M3 last year (and the M2 of the previous year), there is a handful of updates and even an aesthetic change. In addition to the M4 chip, Apple is updating the 12MP Facetime camera with the central functionality of the stage, and the laptop now has two Thunderbolt 4 ports.
Those ports offer approximately the same performance as the Tugerbolt 3 port of last year (up to 40 Gbps) but with a notable difference. The Macbook Air M4 can now drive two external screens through those ports while feeding the main liquid retina screen of the laptop. That’s right, the laptop remains open.
There is also a new color to consider: sky blue. Space Gray replaces and joins midnight, the light of the stars and silver.
These updates are executed through the 13 and 15 -inch models, which now, something remarkably, are $ 100 cheaper than last year. The 13 -inch macbook Air M4 starts at $ 999 with 16 GB of memory, and the 15 -inch model starts at $ 1,199.

Apple then changed to Blender, an open source 3D application that has been optimized to run natively in Apple Silicon. With it, we could represent a complex image of Arctic ice clouds in just 18 seconds.
The powerful 16 -core neuronal engine of the M4 is not just for Apple’s tools. In one case, we change to webai companion, a large language model with 22 billion parameters and, using the framework of the intention of applications that connects third party applications with Apple intelligence capabilities, began to enter indications about a document that we had open.
Companion responded to the indications and even opened the native mail application to send a report.
Apple has been working hard to convince the world that the MAC is ready for the AAA game, so I was not surprised to see business waves in the Macbook Air M4. The game was soft, with zero tears, stuttering or loss of visible picture.
Perhaps the most surprising thing was that everything Apple showed me was running at the same time. It was a good demonstration of the raw power of the M4.
Apple claims 18 hours of battery and showed us how the demonstration of MacBook Air was not connected, an additional demonstration of how performance would not change if it is not tied to a power outlet.
A fixed design
In addition to the price and performance, the macbook Air M4 13 and 15 inches are identical to the M3 units.
In my short time with them, they looked and felt the same. The 13 inches remains 2.7 lbs. and the 15 -inch model is 3.3 lbs. They still feel thin and light.

There will be a little bit of decks as the MacBook Air M4 enters the market. Both M2 and M3 models will be suspended, with the M4 model now the only officially available MacBook Air, although like the OG MacBook Air M1, some retailers can continue selling M2 and M3 models while clearing their stock, and hopefully obtain decent price cuts.
Taking into account the well established and generally pleasant design, the M4 grade power and a more attractive price, the MacBook Air M4 has a good opportunity to advance our list of the best laptops.
