- Apple has launched its IOS 18.4 software update, which includes 8 new emojis
- The new emojis come at the same time as the Environmental Music function of iOS 18.4 and the new photos tool
- Since its launch, users have brought the new additions well, especially Apple’s new smiling emoji
It has been a week since Apple launched its last update of iOS 18.4, and despite its quite rocky deployment of Apple Intelligence, the new software update includes some redemptive features, one of them is the incorporation of eight new emojis.
Apple’s emojis library is extensive by saying at least, offering small visual elements in which iPhone users, including myself, trusts to give life to a text message or group chat.
Although the company has introduced only eight new ones, each one is unique and there is one in particular that is too identifiable. It is easily the best in the group.
Yes, the new emojis are the most basic characteristic that IOS 18.4 presents, it also brings a new photo tool and a characteristic of environmental music, but that does not mean that we are not allowed to be excited about them.
I have had a really hard look at the eight new additions to the Apple Emojis range and I already know which I will use the most, and those that I could do without, here is my verdict.
8. Root vegetable
Is it a turnip? Is it a radish? I don’t know. But what I know is that this is the emoji that I will use less. There are already enough food emojis, so what is this impact?
7. Naked tree
I use Apple’s emojis quite frequently, especially when I subtite a photo with a picturesque natural landscape or extravagant plant. However, the new bare tree emoji looks a bit sad.
The only instance in which I might use it is during autumn or even in Halloween, but it is not one that I am anxious to use at this time.
6. Word/ shovel
Let’s call a shovel a shovel. This is on the most boring side of the Apple emojis 18.4. If you have a particular attachment to swords or shovels, then you may find you visiting this emoji again and again. For me, not so much.
5. Sark flag
Like most flag emojis, you would only use them in very specific contexts or if you are expressing national pride (I use the emoji of the Welsh flag constantly). Apart from that, it is a fairly tidy flag, and it is good to see that Apple brings more national flags to its library.
4. Splashes
According to its design, the purple splash emoji is another that would have thought that it was always part of the emoji gallery. But, unfortunately, it is brilliant and new.
This is another that looks good, but the only thing that disappoints is the lack of different color options, which would attract me to use it more.
Maybe the next update of what will this solve?
3. Digital footprint
The digital footprint emoji is great to see. Is it as exciting as the new smiling emoji? I would not say it, but as for the design, it still has a blow and it is a solid addition to the Emoji library.
2. Harp
It is strange that a harp emoji is one of the new additions to iOS 18.4 because it would have assumed that this was always there. That shows how often use musical instruments emojis.
Although this is a very specific emoji, it is very summery. With all summer photo dumps that I have planned for the coming months, I could definitely see me using this in an Instagram legend somewhere.
1. Undereye bags
Well, then Apple has a sense of humor after all. The new Emoji face with Undeyeye bags wins for a landslide, not because it is particularly inventive or creative, but because it is the most identifiable.
Since IOS 18.4 was launched, this emoji has received many praise from Apple users for the previous reason. This shows that relatability is everything when it comes to emojis, and there is no doubt that this will be a success with users.
