Apple has presented a new important medical study that could completely change the way we think about technology, health, research and medicine.
Apple’s health study “aims to better understand how technology can play a role in the advancement and improvement of physical health, mental health and general well -being.” That includes the best iPhones, Apple Watches and Apple Airpods. The new study is available in the Apple research application, and “it will also explore relationships between several health areas, such as the impact of mental health on heart rate or how dream can influence exercise.”
The study is being carried out in collaboration with the leading research team and the affiliate of Harvard Brigham and Women’s Hospital teaching.
Apple says that it hopes to address one of the biggest problems with medical research: a limited number of participants and data. The company says that more than 350,000 people in the United States have participated in previous studies for health, audition and movement of the heart and movement of women. Here are the details and how it can get involved.
The most ambitious Apple health study so far?
Apple says that the new study “aims to understand how technology data, including Apple and third -party devices, can be used to predict, detect, monitor and manage changes in participants’ health”, and also explore connections between different areas. Health
It covers a multitude of different health and disease areas, which include activity, aging, cardiovascular health, circulatory health, cognition, audition, menstrual health, mental health, metabolic health, mobility, neurological health, respiratory health and sleep. Previously, Apple has focused its studies on one of those areas, such as hearing, which makes this new study the most ambitious to the margin.
Apple says that the new study “is designed to explore changes in health and how technology can help identify important ideas for the future development of products”, pointing out that when an aspect of health changes the body can emit a physical signal or emotional. Identifying these changes can help offer a more proactive health approach, with the monitoring performed using health characteristics such as sleep apnea detection in Apple Watch’s 10 series.
The best bit? If you live in the USA. You can participate. If it meets the minimum age requirements, it can be registered for registration through the Apple investigation application. Participants can ask tasks and ask questions, as well as read the research. As expected with Apple, you can choose exactly what data it does and does not share, and can be withdrawn at any time.
