- Baratza has launched a new coffee grinder, the Encore ESP Pro
- Its stepless mechanism can adjust the burrs in 2.2 micron increments.
- It also features ion generation technology to prevent static buildup while grinding.
Baratza, which specializes in premium coffee grinders, has just launched a new continuous model that makes it easy to precisely select your chosen brew type, whether espresso, Aeropress or pour-over. The Baratza Encore ESP Pro has the same Baratza M2 steel burs as the company’s previous models, but with a new continuous mechanism that allows 2.2 microns of vertical bur movement per degree of adjustment rotation.
Finding the right grind size for your coffee (dial) is the trickiest part of making a good brew. A small incremental change can make the difference between a perfectly full espresso and one that is slightly bitter or acidic.
The ideal grind size for a particular bean and brew type is also not constant; The age of the beans and even the ambient temperature can affect the extraction rate, so being able to make small adjustments is a big advantage.
The Encore ESP Pro should also make grinding cleaner thanks to ion generation technology that helps prevent static, which is created by friction during grinding and can cause coffee to stick to the grinder. Less static means less clutter and less waste.
The LED lights help you see exactly what you’re doing (and watch the coffee fall neatly into the filter), and you can choose whether you want to grind all the beans in the hopper or just one dose.
If the name Baratza sounds familiar but you can’t identify it, you may already be using some of its hardware. The company was acquired by Breville in 2020, and you’ll find its grinders inside many of Breville’s best coffee makers, including the top-rated Breville Barista Touch Impress.
