The baseball star of the University of Arkansas, Gage Wood, launched only the third game without hits in the history of the University World Series and first in 65 years on Monday, struggling a record 19 against Murray State to protect the 3-0 victory of his team.
Wood joined Jim Ehrler in Texas in 1950 and Jim Wixson from the state of Oklahoma in 1960 as the only pitchers organized by CWS No-Hitters.

The Junior only had two three ball counts, since 83 of his 119 launches were attacks.
Wood had offered for a perfect game in the eighth entrance, but a 2-2 breakup ball hit Dom Decker on his back foot.
“When I hit the boy on the foot, I knew I ruined me,” Wood said after the game.

Even so, Wood, a junior right that established the CWS record for strikeouts in a nine -ticket game, celebrated its feat after the game.
“The only special thing was that I didn’t want to go home. That’s all,” he said. “We are not going home. We get to play tomorrow night. But it’s great.”
Wood has gone from being closer as a first -year student to half a reliever as a second year student to start the weekend as Junior. He was injured his right shoulder throwing a heating launch at the beginning of February 23 against Michigan and did not return until April 18 against Texas A&M, a total of 54 days.

When asked what he did with the ball ball, Wood said: “I gave it to my dad and I said happy father’s day.”
Arkansas (49-14) plays another elimination game on Tuesday night against the winner of Monday night between LSU and UCLA.
