Army chief vows to eliminate terrorism and its enablers


Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir reiterated his commitment to eradicate terrorism, its enablers and financiers during his visit to South Waziristan on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Sunday, General Munir was briefed about the current security situation and ongoing anti-terrorist operations in the area.

Addressing the officers and troops, the army chief praised their unwavering resilience and determination in the fight against terrorism, describing them as the true heroes of the nation. “The nation is proud of the brave individuals fighting terrorism. Our martyrs are a source of pride for Pakistan and their sacrifices will never be forgotten,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of national unity, General Munir said, “With the strong support of the nation, Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies will ensure sustainable peace and stability across the country.”

Furthermore, he promised to eliminate all forms of terrorism and extremism and stated: “We are resolute in our mission to eradicate terrorism and its manifestations. “The courage, resilience and unwavering determination of Pakistan’s armed forces form the cornerstone of the nation’s sovereignty.”

The army chief reaffirmed the army’s resolve to counter the menace of ‘Khawarij’, a term used to describe extremist groups, and pledged to dismantle networks involved in anti-state activities, along with their facilitators and financial supporters.

Earlier, upon his arrival at Wana, General Munir was received by the Peshawar Corps Commander. The visit highlighted the army’s continuous efforts to restore peace and stability in Pakistan, focusing on combating terrorism and safeguarding the security of the nation.
